Our Family is a recipient of giving, sharing, and loving from the celebration we had last Saturday at the Family Ministry‘ Thanksgiving Celebration. We have been serving here for the last 3 years. In counting this, our family had been blessed. God has never lacked anything, God has provided us what we need and He still continues to provide.
The concept we learned from the message was simple, Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plan to give you hope and a future”. Understanding this scripture is so nice to declare that the Lord never lack for anything we need. But we limit the blessings because we missed seeing the verse after that “with all of your heart”. When we do things with all of our heart God will never withhold things for our good.
When we do everything with all of your hearts, you get the blessings in full afterward. Everything means any area of your life. The career that gives us finances daily is one of the strong binds that holds us back from doing the best that we can. In my case, when I was still not married God has never been away from me. I just do n’t know if what I am doing the best of what God wants me to do.
How do we know if that is what God wants us to do?
I created this acronym that enables me to remember the reasons easily. This is FOCUS.
F – FAITHFULNESS –
Being faithful is something deep but lets define this word. Faithfulness relates to strict performance of duty according to one’s word, syn to promise and vows. But most of the time we missed to perform this task in some areas of our lives. As a husband and a father, I have yet understood the meaning of this word until I got married. I realized that being faithful is not just when you say “I do” on your wedding rites but by doing this promise every single day of our lives… until forever.
O – OBEDIENCE –
Being the leader of the family speaks about your obedience to the basic rule of marriage, that you should love your wife as Christ love the church. If you missed this simple law, you are missing the mark of being a great father. God wants us to obey His words as much as to understanding it.
C- COMMITMENT –
When we started to say, “Yes to serve” we have made the promise that we will perform according to the standard of best performance.

I bumped into this phrase, “saved to serve”. This idea of being saved to serve has been marking my heart into service. When Jesus saved us from our sins, he is also challenging us to “go serve” in this kingdom.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
S- SERVE –
I have been serving for almost 15 years of my life and I have never been tired of doing it. The secrete to lasting service is understanding the reason why you do what you do. I internalize the true meaning of saved to serve, and that fuels me to continue making every efforts purposeful in the ministry.
We were asked to give our short testimony on how God has given us encouragement in serving in the Family Ministry. We are blessed to share our part and how God may have used it, it is for His Glory.
