3 Ways to Create a Healthy Family Lifestyle

I am a product of traditionally accepted Filipino parenting. Where my father was at home growing up and my mother works outside. My mother assumes the leadership and my father submits. But, that does not break the form of society as others look at it as impaired.

Clearly, the family is the basic unit of society. Along with this, the family is nature’s established association for the supply of mankind every day, according to Aristotle. While, research clearly shows that the institution of the family is the first form of community and government. However, what is happening today doesn’t look like the family is getting stronger. Similarly, if the family is the smallest form of government, a lot of its forms have been broken by divorce and annulment. A lot needs to be rebuild.

What is so hurting is when a family is divorced or on the verge of separation. The kids are greatly affected. In addition to this, a lot of its forms have been intuited by culture or traditional background. Today, as we start to assume parenting, I would like to suggest 3 basic ways to create a healthy family lifestyle.

1. Create Family Vision

A noble family vision is a roadmap of what you and your family wants to be like in 10, 20 or 30 years from now. Also, it can be difference between getting there safe and sound, said Gregory Slayton. The writer of the book Be A Better Dad Today. I totally understood the importance of having the vision as a family. Additionally, family vision will serve as the foundation on how you will respond to conflicts and building block of decision making.

2. Family is place to be Genuine

Along with vision, one of the healthy principles for a healthy family is to establish an environment where they can express themselves properly. I grew up being hampered in expressing my talents in singing. My father would always say that I was no good at singing. As a result, it developed into hatred, rebellion, and broken relationships. Although, I was able to forgive my father before he died last 2017.

3. Father brings heaven home.

In addition, one of my new learnings as a father of my two kids is the principle of bringing heaven home. This has been keeping my busy to make sure that we are taking good care of every aspect of the family. Additionally, I learned this principle from the international certification I attended. The group is called The World Needs a Father. It teaches a lot about how to be an intentional father. This is a holistic approach to parenting and making you aware of your responsibility. More importantly, they also provided a support system to carry out the modules. They ensure that everyone is understanding and taking action for every session.
